Publicity Blurb: Caught in between a battle between two titans of the Shakespearian canon, can our hapless heroes survive? A thrilling new masterpiece that is set to change the way the world views things with the word versus in the title.
Proposal Blurb: Hamlet and Macbeth are regarded as two of the finest tragedies ever written, but haven't you always wondered which is better? Hamlet - with his bid to avenge his murdered father and dethrone his power-hungry uncle? Or Macbeth - with his own lust for power, a lust fuelled and encouraged by his ambitious wife? Revenge or greed? Prince or King? Hamlet or Macbeth? There's only one way to find out... FIGHT!
After their performance of Pyramus and Thisbe is well-received by the Duke of Athens and his court, the Mechanicals (from A Midsummer Night's Dream) decide that their acting troupe should go on tour. They decide to continue the discussion at the nearest inn, but are intercepted en route by a man calling himself Goodfellow. He tells the Mechanicals of a boat leaving for Britain, and persuades them to board. However when the boat arrives in Scotland, the Mechanicals find themselves absorbed into the plot of Macbeth, a problem which only gets worse when news arrives of an invading army from Denmark...
Hamlet vs Macbeth is a tragicomedy which explores a variety of themes and ideas including friendship, punishment, escaping your fate, and most importantly - fighting. Lots of fighting. The play is a chance for a lot of people to have a lot of fun in bringing a piece of original Bedlam writing to the stage.
