Proposal Blurb: Freshers’ Week, the first event of the academic year, is a wonderful opportunity to showcase what Bedlam is all about, and tempt new students to join our theatre. As the only society with its own, dedicated venue, we would use this to its full potential - the building would be open every day from noon until midnight. Each day, the Freshers would be invited to watch two shows, on average, and take part in a variety of theatrical workshops. The shows to be performed during this week would ideally be a combination of new writing and established pieces. Between these scheduled events, the café would offer the much-loved soup & show deal and delicious baked treats - making it a warm, welcoming atmosphere for new students to socialise and meet other people enthusiastic in theatre.

We would like to put a huge emphasis on making Bedlam approachable and friendly during this week - there would be opportunities to meet the committee throughout the week, and tours around the building. After certain shows, the audience would be invited to speak to the cast members and production team about the process of putting a Bedlam show together from start to finish. No part of the Freshers’ week should seem daunting - we’ll encourage new students to add to Bedlam’s wealth of talent, and to have fun and make friends during their first week at Edinburgh.

We hope you are just excited as us to welcome a new generation to Bedlam.
